An Ugly Side of My Country

This is something which I just got to know about. How corrupted this country is. Yes, the country which I'm staying in. Corruption not only happened in the government but to the everyday lives and this one, to the matter of life and death which really disgust me.

Recently a friend's father got hospitalized. Her dad fainted in his house. Naturally, her brother calls for help. He called his friend to help him get an ambulance as he was trying to help his dad regain conscious. The ambulance is from PBSM which is our Red Crescent Society. I have no idea how this friend get an ambulance from PBSM.

Apparently, it took sometime before the ambulance arrived and the ambulance even lost their way and tell the caller they can't find the place. Is this how an ambulance should provide their services when human being's life is depending on them??? I suggest the company provide them with a GPS system so they have no excuse to be lost or can't find the place.

It's known that whenever we need the ambulance services, we would have to pay a fix sum if not by mileage. What astonished me is that when my friend told me that the ambulance guy actually asked for 'kopi money' before they sent her father to the hospital. Her father is already inside the ambulance and waiting for the ambulance to sent him to the hospital and yet this guy is outside demanding for 'kopi money' before he drive the sick guy to the hospital. This is day light extortion! How can he asked for money when my friend are already paying for the ambulance service? This is a matter of life and death as my friend's father is in critical condition. A minute delay means a minute less for the doctor to save him life.

From some blogs which I just read, it seem that most of the ambulance services are privatised. Even if you called up the hospital and request for an ambulance, you will be told that all their ambulance are out and refer you to a private ambulance service provider. Privatization to me is not a bad idea but when it is privatized and there's no service delivered then what is the use of privatization?? Apparently this seem to be the case whenever a person call up for ambulance services and this is not the first time such issues had been highlighted. I told my friend to write a letter to Ministry of Health and the newspaper to complain and make known about this issue. But she's reluctant and said 'suan ba' (forget about it) and don't wanna make a big fuss over it. But that's not what I see, if everyone who received such services and just forget about it, then these situation will keep on repeating itself. These people will get away easily and keep on doing their daylight extortion. It's sad to know that people are taking advantages out of such situation.

As I read more blogs about ambulance services provided here in M'sia, mostly are complains about their delay in reaching the locations. Especially huge accident location where the victim/s are in really bad shape. I felt bad and ashamed for my country. Ambulance are supposed to help us the 'rakyat' and yet they let us down and some even cause unnecessary death especially to accident victims. I wonder how these people view the value of life. I really hope the Ministry can do something about this and not to let our 'rakyat' down again.

Urging Public to Donate Blood

Saw in the recent news that our blood supply in the blood bank is running low. Would like to help blood bank to urge public to donate their blood in order to restore the supply and to save lives. You will be surprised how a pack of blood can do wonders in a person who really needs it and of course, in saving their lives. These blood supply are normally used for patients who undergo surgery, those involved in accidents, thallasemia, dengue, fire victims, babies, high blood loss for women during delivery, etc. Yesterday as I was driving, overheard from the radio that our National Blood Bank is extending their blood donation operating hours from 7.30am -8pm from Mon to Fri and 7.30am -4pm on Sat.

I have alway think that donating one's blood is kinda noble job. As blood is only self produced in ones' body thus make it even more precious. Besides, there are benefits in donating blood. It helps to reduce the risk of heart attacks by eliminating excessive iron in the heart, stimulates the generation of red blood cells and most importantly, knowing that your blood can save someone's life. I personally can not donate blood as I'm a 'vampy' and so I would like to thank all who have done this noble job of donating blood and may God bless u all.

Lastly, if you still have not donate your blood, please do go and help our blood bank regain their full blood supply. It does make a difference in someone's life.

An encouter ....

Today, while I was having my dinner with my parents at a nearby shop, came a woman asking us for money. The woman dress in clean clothes, had tidy clean hair (or so I think, from what I can see) and does not at all look handicap to me. She walk near our table speaking softly but still can be heard by all of us for money. We ignore her. The shop owner shouted at her asking her not to disturb her customers. The beggar, yes, that's what I would call her, walk slowly round our table and came over my side of the table and again begging for money. My dad said no to her and again the shop owner shouted at her warning her not to disturb her customers or else she would tell all her customers not to give her money.

All these while in my head I was thinking, why would this woman beg for money? I mean she's not handicap and she look perfectly in her sane mind. She had tidy and clean clothes and hair. So, to me, she can find a job and work for money instead of begging for money. What in her mind that make her do so?

Honestly speaking, I don't pity these kinda people. Not that I'm heartless, to me she can earn her living. Find a job as a restaurant helper or dish washer or what ever that can give her money rather than begging. Maybe to her begging is the most easiest way to earn money. If there's 10 tables in that shop and per table give her RM 1, wow, just 1 round of collection she can gain RM 10. That's a decent meal with a drink. Seems easy earning right? But on the other hand, can U do what she did? To beg in public and be as thick skin as her? Not everyone can do so. But with the current economy situation I think a lot of people might be desperate enough to beg.

From the religion book that I have read, being a beggar like her, u will be punished too in the after life. Punishment will be in the form of using copper/iron knives to scrape of the skin of the beggar's face cos the beggar did not use the correct path to earn money and are very thick skinned.

Setting Examples?

Was driving back the other day along Jalan Ampang, a quick glance on my side mirror I saw a motorbike with a man in white shirt and pants holding a the bike handle with his right hand while his left hand is holding something. As he ride nearer, his left hand is apparently holding a handphone. Sms-ing to be exact. A traffic police officer to be exact. A thought came to my mind, aren't drivers (be it a motorbike or car driver) not allowed to sms when you are driving? I know there is a hefty fine for those who got caught sms-ing while driving. Wonder if he will be fined too??
Yeah, I should have took the picture and sent it to The Star newspaper and won a RM 50 prize but I'm just too slow in catching him in the act!

Another incident happened last night when I was driving back home. I was stuck in a traffic jam along the beginning of Jalan Tun Razak just after Sungai Besi, then I saw a police car driving past me on my left hand side and suddenly stop by the road side with the 2 hazzle lights on. As everyone knows, Jalan Tun Razak near that stretch is a super busy road and is always jam up whether day or night. I thought may be the police car wanted to stop a private car cos coincidentally a car drove into the lane in front of the shops and stopped. But no cos a policeman actually came down and walk towards the shop which is a bank. I thought may be he wanna sign the log book of the bank but no, he's actually there to use the atm machine.

Weird as in, they are the enforcement officers but yet they are the ones who never practice what our government preached. Using a phone while driving is wrong in the first scenario and I should think policeman or not, he should be fined just like anyone of us. Going to an atm machine is not a fault but stopping on a very busy road and causing more jam is something not thoughtful for a policeman. The radio stations always asked us to do our part for our community ie not to use handphone while driving, not to be a creative parker etc but isn't it ironic that the law enforcers are not setting a good examples?

What is meant by sense of securities? (re-post)

Was discussing this topic with a friend so I thought it would be an interesting subject to blog.

What is meant by sense of securities?

Most girls will usually ask the guys (esp bf/hubby) for sense of securities (I'm sure u guys have heard of it plenty of times) but what is meant by sense of securities? It's perfectly normal for girls or guys these days to relate sense of securities with material sense ie whether he got all 5Cs, whether he can buy u expensive clothes or food, treat u to holidays with all expenses paid, etc etc

But did anyone ever thought beside the material wise can the sense of securities comes from the guy giving u his full trust? his full protection in what ever circumstances? his full attention to your every needs? his time? his faith in you? etc (things that u can't buy with money)

I was once slammed by this question and like most girls I said the material things but then I was asked again, "what about sense of securities in term of non material wise?" so that got me thinking for quite awhile

Marriages n Weddings....( re-post)

Have it ever occur to you when is the best or most suitable age to get married??

For the past few weeks, I've been attending wedding dinners non stop, back to back, from KL to JB and back to KL, hehehe. Is it because we have reach the 'appropriate' age? or .... hmm maybe someone can help me fill that blank ;)

Attended one of my good friend's wedding last weekend in JB. It felt like only yesterday when we just knew each other, going on our adventurous jln jln cari makan trips up north and down south, attending her graduation, sharing all our non stop gossiping, etc etc ... and now she's married and settled down in JB. Though weddings are happy moments to share but in another way, it is sad to know that one of your good friends is no longer a stone throw away when u need a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. But nevertheless, the girls agreed to her man of choice, only thing is .... eerrr can we request for him to top up his ang pow money for the chi muis!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??! after all he's been given easy tasks ... hehehehe (kidding la !)

It's a nice trip though. It's been a long time since the bunch of us get to go on such fun trips. Really had loads of fun esp during the wedding event hehehe Cant wait to see the video and photos and not forgetting someone's 'fate'
